EU bank provides Morocco 5-bln-USD-loans since 2007


RABAT, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) — The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted Morocco 4.3 billion euros (4.95 billion U.S. dollars) in loans since 2017, financial daily L’Economiste reported on Friday.

Anna Barone, head of representation of EIB in Morocco, said that 35 percent of the loans were granted to transport projects, while 12 percent for industrial and social infrastructure projects.

Water projects accounted for 4 percent of EIB loans, and energy projects 2 percent.

Established in 1958, EIB provides finance and expertise for sustainable investment projects that contribute to EU policy objectives.
