Welfare fears for couple in WA outback

Concerns are held for a couple travelling in a remote part of the West Australian outback who contacted a car repairer in Port Hedland five days ago after experiencing vehicle troubles but are yet to make further contact.

According to other travellers, the man and woman, aged in their early 20s, were driving to the coastal Pilbara town from the Kunawarritji Aboriginal Community in the Gibson Desert, possibly using the Canning Stock Route.

Police say they were driving a silver 1980s Toyota Landcruiser towing a green box trailer, and have urged anyone with information about the pair to get in touch.
