ALVARO MORATA is a broken man at Chelsea.
That’s the opinion of football journalist Jack Lang who thinks the Spanish forward simply has to leave Chelsea now.
Morata has been linked with moves to Atletico Madrid and Sevilla this month after cutting a dejected figure at Stamford Bridge.
He scored a brace in his last appearance against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup but also missed a sitter and looked miserable when substituted.
And Lang thinks Morata simply has to leave Chelsea because the club have broken him.
On the Totally Football Show, Lang said: “It was almost that he wasn’t impressed by his own goals.
“At least you’d think, in the form he’s been in, that a couple of goals would be a cause for celebration, but he continues to look sulky.
“I’m pretty certain that he went straight down the tunnel when he was substituted as well.
“He just looks broken basically. When he came to England there was talk of, he’s incredibly superstitious, he’s incredibly a constantly worried man. He’s not particularly confident.
“It looks like this spell of form has probably broken him. I think he probably needs a move back to Italy or Spain but he’s never been a leading man and for the price that Chelsea paid, and will want to receive for him, he’s going to have to be that leading guy.
“He’s going to cost at least £30m if someone wants him on a permanent deal.”
Chelsea appear happy to cut him loose and are looking to bring in Callum Wilson from Bournemouth or AC Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain as a replacement.
Morata may have to leave on loan although the Blues would probably rather cash in now than deal with the situation again in the summer.
