MANCHESTER UNITED ace Paul Pogba is set to start tonight’s Premier League clash against Arsenal.
Pogba delivered a shambolic performance in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Southampton before a row with Jose Mourinho in the dressing after the final whistle.
Mourinho reportedly labelled the World Cup winner a “virus” before accusing him of showing a lack of respect for his team-mates and fans.
It is claimed Pogba hit back at his manager by aiming a dig at the tactics deployed at St Mary’s.
Pogba was back in the team after being dropped for Manchester United’s Champions League victory against Young Boys.
He struggled to impress, however, and the statistics back up claims he performed poorly.
Pogba’s pass completion rate was less than 85 per cent, he lost half of his 30 duels and was dispossessed eight times by Southampton players.
As a result of that poor performance, he could have no qualms if he is dropped for Arsenal’s visit to Old Trafford.
But, according to the Daily Mirror, he will keep his place in Mourinho’s starting XI against the Gunners.
Mourinho was forced to use midfielders Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic in midfield at St Mary’s on Saturday due to an injury crisis.
It is starting to ease, however, and he is hoping his side can swat aside Unai Emery’s Arsenal.
“We will have a very difficult match,” Mourinho said.
“They are a good team who have had a good run of results.
“But in spite of our selection issues, they know it won’t be easy either.”
Man Utd vs Arsenal Team News
United have considerable worries in terms of their defence ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League home clash with Arsenal.
Jose Mourinho said on Tuesday morning that Phil Jones, Chris Smalling (foot), Eric Bailly and Antonio Valencia were not looking ready to play.
Ashley Young (suspension) and Victor Lindelof (muscular injury) will definitely miss out, and while Matteo Darmian is able to return, Luke Shaw is a doubt after coming off with a knock in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Southampton.
Two others taken off at St Mary’s were forwards Romelu Lukaku (knock) and Marcus Rashford, and there is a question mark over the former, while the latter was backed after the game by Mourinho to be fit for this contest.
Alexis Sanchez (hamstring) remains sidelined.
Mesut Ozil is unlikely to be available for Arsenal.
Ozil did not train with the first team on Monday, and has been ruled out of Arsenal’s last two matches with a back problem.
Granit Xhaka is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the victory against Tottenham.
Nacho Monreal (hamstring), Konstantinos Mavropanos (groin) and Danny Welbeck (ankle) remain sidelined.
