An Uber driver accused of raping a teenage girl who fell asleep in his taxi has been frogmarched into court.
Onur Dedeoglu, 37, is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl in North Bondi in August.
Serco guards escorted the man to Liverpool Local Court on Friday from Villawood Immigration Detention Centre, where he has been detained on bail since his arrest.
Dedeoglu refused to comment to reporters as he left the court and will reappear in Waverley Court in December, 9news reported.
The Uber driver picked up the teenager with her friends after a night out in the Sydney CBD on August 26.
He allegedly dropped off the girl’s two friends at around 1.30 am in Bondi, after which the girl fell asleep in the back of his car.
The victim allegedly awoke to find the accused sexually assaulting her in a car park in North Bondi.
The man’s Uber account was frozen as soon as the ride-sharing company became aware of the incident.
He is also no longer allowed to operate as a ride-share service driver for any other company.
