ELF has seen some shocking transformations in the 15 years since its release.

Elf has been one of the most popular Christmas films since it came out in 2003.

The movie follows a human elf returning to his real family in New York after a life on Santa’s Grotto.

Reuniting with his long-lost dad and the rest of his family, Buddy met his younger brother Michael Hobbs.

Daniel Tay, who played the 12-year-old youngster, has had a complete transformation in the years since the release.

Now 27, he is almost unrecognisable, separating himself completely from his acting career as a teen.

Flaunting a sprinkling of stubble, Daniel ditched his Hollywood fame and moved to academics.

After what could be described as his best known role, he went to appear in a number of popular movies.

From the little boy who helped his older brother bring the Christmas spirit back to the Big Apple to the voice of the pup Doogal in 2006, Daniel had quite a successful stint.

As he distanced himself from the world of acting, the youngster who we formerly saw in an epic showdown snowball fight with the human elf headed to Yale.

Following his studies, he became an SAT instructor at Veritas Prep, helping students with test preparation for graduate school.

The former child star has ditched social media a presence, allowing him to step out of the spotlight completely.

While he seems to be happy with his social media silence, fans still hope for a sequel to the popular Christmas film.

In 2013, rumours of an Elf 2 started, but dreams were soon shattered by Will Ferrell, who plays Buddy.

Talking on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen at the time, when asked if there would ever be an Elf 2, he said: “Absolutely not.”

He added: “It would look slightly pathetic if I tried to squeeze back into the elf tights.”

Although a sequel has always been something that fans have begged for, it looks like the story of Buddy The Elf isn’t changing anytime soon.
