Grenade detonates at Colombian mayor’s home

BOGOTÁ, Colombia – Aníbal Ortiz, the mayor of the northwestern town of Tierralta, said a grenade that was tossed on the balcony of his home exploded but did not cause any injuries. Ortiz said he has been the target of numerous threats from what he suspected are members of newly created rightist militias that have spawned from the demobilization of the AUC paramilitary federation in 2006.
