GUATEMALA CITY – Drug enforcement agents from Guatemala’s National Civilian Police seized 320 tons of a chemical used to make synthetic drugs bound for Honduras.
The seized cargo of monomethylene, a banned chemical, was found in a warehouse operated by the Santo Tomás de Castilla company in Puerto Barrios, a port city in the Caribbean province of Izabal, and was originally shipped from Shanghai, China, authorities said.
The cargo was worth just over $6 million, police said.
