Luigi’s Mansion 3, Animal Crossing, and an all-new RPG are coming to the Switch next year


Today’s Nintendo Direct was filled with news regarding previously announced titles, ports, and remakes, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any truly new games coming. Nintendo briefly announced three all-new titles during the presentation, all of which are coming sometime in 2019.

The presentation started with a teaser trailer for , which some may have been expecting since the company is remaking the original title for the Nintendo 3DS. This will be the first new game in the series since (or in the U.S.) launched on the 3DS back in 2012. Not much more information was provided, but you can watch the above teaser.

Also without much more info, Nintendo announced an all-new entry in the series, marking the franchise’s debut on the Switch, as well as the first console release since 2013’s for the Nintendo 3DS. The game doesn’t even have a title yet, so it will probably be coming later in the year.

Rounding out the major announcements for next year is , a title being developed by Game Freak. You may know that this is the company behind the core titles in the franchise, and it’s not all too common for it to develop other games. It’s a role-playing game about a once-peaceful village that has suddenly been invaded by monsters, which the player will have to ward off to protect the people. Aside from the shot plot synopsis, all that’s known about the game is that it everything happens within the confines of the village. A separate trailer isn’t available, but you can find it at around the 21:10 mark inside the full presentation.

It looks like 2019 could be a big year for Nintendo’s hybrid console, as all of these titles join a new game in the core series as well as The company is making big bets on the hybrid console, and it will be interesting to see if it pays off.
