Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch – Release Date reveal?

It looks like a potential release date for Animal Crossing has been leaked.

According to LootPots, we could see the game on shelves as soon as Q1 2019.

“Information from one of our sources suggests that Animal Crossing on Nintendo Switch is most likely set for a late Q1 or early Q2 (calendar year) release date,” reads the report on the site.

“Which in layman’s terms means sometime around March/April 2019. The game is also rumoured to be targeting a suggested retail price of €59,99.”

This is still, of course, a rumour, so treat it as such for now. We’re sure we’ll hear more at the next Nintendo Direct.

Overview:

Animal Crossing is a hugely popular series developed and published by Nintendo.

The community simulation video game series where the characters lives in a village where anthropomorphic animals live.

There are no specific objectives, but players are encouraged to spend time in the village doing a number of activities, including collecting items, planting plants and socialising.

Animal Crossing New Leaf, the last major title in the series was released in 2012 for the 3DS.

The franchise has not yet been confirmed for release on Nintendo Switch, but fans believe it is merely a question of time.

Is Animal Crossing for Switch happening?

While Nintendo have not yet officially announced Animal Crossing for Switch, there is some evidence it could be on its way.

For example, the Japanese gaming giant filed for a brand new Animal Crossing trademark in Japan.

The filing makes references to software for a home video game machine, portable electronic game machine and smartphone devices”.

Fans were hoping for an Animal Crossing for Switch reveal at E3.

However, Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime told IGN when asked if there would be an Animal Crossing for Switch, he responded: “When we have something to announce, we will.”

Animal Crossing potential release date:

Fans are still holding out hope an Animal Crossing for Switch announcement could still be coming this year.

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima said in a meting with shareholders the games company hasn’t fully disclosed its 2018 game lineup yet, according to Nintendo Life.

Despite referring to the current line-up as “powerful”, he teased and said there is more to come.

It is believed Nintendo will announce its full 2018 lineup “at the appropriate time”.

Nintendo isn’t interested in teasing games for years, so if something is announced, there won’t be long until it is released.

Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch ANNOUNCEMENT

After a fantastic double bluff during Nintendo’s 13th September Direct stream, the company has finally announced the game formally exists and will be coming to Switch in 2019.

Right now, there’s very little else we know about the game and what form it’ll take, but we at least know we’re getting a mainline Animal Crossing game (feat. Tom Nook, most likely) on Switch in the next 12 months.

Be prepared to hear more information soon.

What have developers said:

Meanwhile, Nintendo brought a portable version of the game in the form of spin-off Animal Crossing Pocket Camp.

Just like the previous released before it, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp enjoyed great success.

Fils-Aims told IGN at E3 the success of the mobile game bodes well for the success of the eventual next instalment in the franchise.

He said: “We see tremendous opportunity in using the mobile platform to introduce IP to consumers who may not be as familiar.

“Animal Crossing is a great example. Tremendous interaction with Pocket Camp. Fans are really enjoying that experience.

“We’re introducing it to new consumers. That bodes well for whenever the next Animal Crossing might come.”

What might it be like?

The game is well-known for its unique, open-ended gameplay.

The player follows the game system’s internal clock and calendar, simulating the passage go time.

While the characters of undoubtable lovable, releasing the game on Switch is a chance to introduce new characters.

The Switch console offers the chance to introduce bigger spaces, bigger areas and more places to visit.

It may also offer you the chance to choose what role you will take in the town.
