Chelsea news: Jorginho reveals to Premier League rivals how POLAND killed his game

0

CHELSEA star Jorginho has revealed Poland’s man-marking job on him is the way to keep him quiet.

The Italy international was in action during the break over the past fortnight.

The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes of the 1-1 draw with Poland and 1-0 defeat to Portugal.

Jorginho has been a standout performer at Stamford Bridge since arriving in west London.

Chelsea paid Napoli £57m to land the former Serie A talent from under Manchester City’s nose.

And he also played every minute of the Blues’ opening four wins against Huddersfield, Arsenal, Newcastle and Bournemouth.

His most difficult match this season, though, has proved to be versus Poland for Italy as the pass-master was marked out of the contest.

Cardiff could take note today as they travel to Chelsea (3pm), while West Ham and Liverpool are also round the corner in the Premier League.

Off the back of the Poland draw, Jorginho told Rai Sport: “When you have a man marking you who is paying no attention whatsoever to the rest of the game and only focusing on you, you have to create space for your team-mates.

“I fully admit it wasn’t my best performance and I made a lot of errors, including on the Poland goal.

“I couldn’t see as much of the ball as usual, so I tried to talk more and direct my teammates towards the spaces.

“I can’t just take the ball and run when I’m man-marked constantly.

“I could egotistically try to keep the ball anyway, but it’s better for the team if I spread the play and find those who have spaces.”

Jorginho is expected to start today’s game with Cardiff.

And it will be interesting to see if Neil Warnock opts to try and nullify his threat by pinning a Cardiff midfielder on the Chelsea star.

The Blues have huge quality all around Jorginho, though, including N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.

Eden Hazard, meanwhile, will lead Chelsea’s charge in attack.
