CHELSEA TRANSFER NEWS – Wilfried Zaha is being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but how could the Crystal Palace star fit into Maurizio Sarri’s XI?
“Wilfried Zaha was involved in Crystal Palace’s 3-1 defeat away at Chelsea in the Premier League yesterday”
Zaha was involved in the Eagles’ 3-1 defeat away at Chelsea in the Premier League yesterday.
After Alvaro Morata gave the Blues liftoff, Andros Townsend equalised against the run of play eight minutes into the second half.
However, Morata’s second of the day with 25 minutes remaining, along with a cool finish from Pedro five minutes later, ensured Roy Hodgson’s side would leave the Bridge empty handed.
But Zaha might be set for a return to west London sooner than expected.
That’s because the Blues are heavy favourites with the bookies to sign the Ivory Coast international in January.
Coral have installed Maurizio Sarri’s side as 4/6 frontrunners to prise him away from Selhurst Park in the winter window, with a flurry of bets placed on the move going ahead this morning.
Zaha, 25, only put pen to paper on a new Palace deal, worth around £130,000 a week, back in August.
That lucrative extension means Chelsea would have to fork out a hefty amount to add him to their ranks in January.
Tottenham come next in the list at odds of 4/1.
Spurs, long linked with a move for Zaha, were interested in bringing him to north London in the summer.
Yet in the end they were put off by Palace’s £70m valuation of the player.
Other teams in the running include Borussia Dortmund (7/1), Manchester City (8/1), Everton (12/1) and Liverpool (12/1).
