Former X Factor star Christopher Maloney left his friends terrified after he went missing for 24 hours following an apparent robbery and failing to turn up to a gig.
The 40-year-old singer from Liverpool, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016, allegedly turned off his phone before going on a drinking session.
He had met up with his friend, former Big Brother star Mark Byron, for a ‘few champagnes’ in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, on Wednesday – before heading to Borehamwood in Hertfordshire to appear on Big Brother’s Bit On The Side.
But the alarm was raised by Byron when Maloney failed to turned up to his slot as a guest at a cabaret event at Brasserie Zédel in London’s Soho last night.
Byron said no one had seen or heard from Maloney – and another friend revealed today that he ‘really worried us all’ by not answering his phone.
The friend told Mirror Online: ‘Everyone was concerned when he turned his phone off – none of us could get through and we were all frantically calling him.
‘It turns out he’d been drinking and didn’t even consider going to Soho for the cabaret night.’
In a since deleted tweet about 6.45pm yesterday, Mr Byron said: ‘If anyone has seen a Christopher Maloney please contact me as a matter of urgency.
‘He has gone missing and not turned up for his gig we are all worried sick about him. He said he’s been robbed early today and not been contactable since.’
Then at 11.10pm yesterday, Mr Byron added: ‘Still not had any news. Where are you Chris? We are all worried.’
But Maloney’s friend, former Emmerdale actress Gemma Oaten, who did perform at the event in Soho, tweeted overnight at about 0.45am: ‘I’ve heard from him.’
And Amigo Productions, which runs the cabaret performance he was set to appear at, confirmed to OK! Online this afternoon that Maloney was safe and well.
A spokesman said: ‘We’ve heard from him. After initial concern when he didn’t turn up to sound check after we had spoken earlier and he said he would be there.
‘I am pleased to say that although he didn’t turn up to the gig, I’ve heard from him and he isn’t missing.
‘A huge thank you to Gemma Oaten and Julie Atherton for putting on terrific show at the 11th hour to which they got a standing ovation. The show must go on, as they say!’
The singer has not tweeted since 5.30pm on Wednesday. Maloney’s publicist and manager have been contacted for comment by MailOnline.

Maloney famously spent over £80,000 on cosmetic treatments – flying to Poland in June 2017 with friend Danniella Westbrook get a hair transplant, nose job and eye lift.
In February, the 2012 X Factor finalist told how he spent the night locked in a hotel bathroom while on his Dance To The Music stage tour with Kristina Rihanoff.
Stuck in a Holiday Inn Express near London Heathrow Airport, Maloney revealed he was ‘screaming at the top of my voice’ as he failed to open the bathroom door.
Rescued hours later, Maloney said: ‘I can see the funny side of it now, but I was effing and blinding at the time. I’m never going to the loo again without my mobile phone.’
He later suffered from a panic attack in the confined conditions: ‘It got very hot and to make matters worse I started craving for a cigarette, it was a nightmare.’
