A really pleasant surprise for a fiver. Made from the grapes of Chianti, this has been put together for Aldi with the help of Master of Wine Sam Caporn. Full of gorgeous black cherry fruit together with a herby twist. Drink with pizza or pasta.

This perfect autumnal white is a blend of the grapes Gros Manseng and Colombard from Gascony, south west France. So full of gorgeous green apple flavours, it almost crunches when you take a sip.

Roast chicken.

Reds from Rioja might get all the attention but there’s a good bunch of rosés and this is one of my favourites. Made from the Grenache grape, it’s bright and light with juicy redcurrants and a dash of citrus.

Tapas.

If you are looking for a good vintage champagne without a hefty price tag, this is a savvy option. Made from 100 pc Chardonnay, it is sleek and smart with rich toasty flavours and citrus fruits.

Smoked salmon.
