LIVERPOOL star Virgil van Dijk is the best centre-back in the Premier League.
That’s according to former Reds defender Stephane Henchoz.
The Dutchman arrived at Anfield in January in a deal worth £75m and made an immediate impact, shoring up Liverpool’s backline to guide them to the Champions League final.
Van Dijk has hit the ground running this term, forming a strong partnership at the heart of the defence alongside Joe Gomez.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have conceded just four Premier League goals this season and are the hot favourites to challenge Manchester City for the title.
“He is the best centre-back in the Premier League.”

The Merseyside outfit have become known for their leaky defence in recent years, which has often prevented them from competing for honours.
But based on their improvement since Van Dijk’s arrival, Henchoz believes the 27-year-old has established himself as one of the world’s best in his position.
“It’s totally changed because Van Dijk has come,” he told talkSPORT.
“And for me he is the best centre-back in the Premier League.
“He’s probably in the top three or five in the world.
“So the defence has improved immensely and Joe Gomez playing as a centre-back.
“He is a top class defender as well.
“I didn’t expect him to play so well.
“It’s a very, very good partnership.
“Van Dijk is not short of personality.
“Since he arrived, he took over as the leader in the back four and the players playing alongside him have improved as well.
“Because they’ve got more confidence now and because Van Dijk is the one who takes the leadership.”
Liverpool are back in Premier League action this evening as they take on Arsenal (5.30pm).
