LIVERPOOL PLAYER RATINGS: Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-1 this afternoon at Wembley, but how did each player perform?
The Reds had the best of the game in the first half, with Roberto Firmino having a goal ruled out for offside early on.
Eventually, Georginio Wijnaldum broke the deadlock, with goal-line technology confirming he had scored after a corner, with his header initially appearing to be saved by Michel Vorm.
Jurgen Klopp’s men doubled their advantage nine minutes after the interval when Firmino poked the ball home after Vorm and Jan Vertonghen made a hash of a Sadio Mane cross.
As the second half went on, it looked like the Reds were closing in on a straightforward three points, but a goal from substitute Erik Lamela in injury time made things nervy.
However, the visitors battened down the hatches and saw off a late Spurs rally to claim their fifth straight win of the season.
Next up for Liverpool is a tricky Champions League game at home to French giants PSG on Tuesday evening.
They will return to Premier League action with a home game against Southampton next Saturday afternoon.
