Man Utd fans LOVED Jose Mourinho’s Liverpool put-down when asked about Marcus Rashford

MANCHESTER UNITED manager Jose Mourinho spent around three minutes reading statistics on Marcus Rashford’s playing time under him.

And Red Devils fans have gone crazy over his rant – which saw him draw comparisons with the likes of Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke.

Mourinho has been criticised for his treatment of Marcus Rashford recently, with many saying he should be getting more game time.

The 20-year-old scored twice during the international break, prompting many to call for Mourinho to increase his minutes on the pitch.

But the Potuguese hit back during his pre-match press conference today, speaking ahead of their clash with Watford tomorrow.

“Marcus Rashford is not Dominic Solanke”

“So I’m going to do something, not for you, but the United fans, and I think I hold myself to the United fans and so for them I am going to spend two mins with you,” he told reporters.

“In 2016-17, Marcus Rashford played 32 Premier League matches, 11 Europa League matches, including the final, three FA Cup matches, six League Cup matches, including the final, and the Community Shield.

“In 2017-18, he played 35 Premier League matches, eight in the Champions League, five in the FA Cup, three League Cup matches and the European Super Cup final.

“So with me, in two seasons, he had 105 appearances, 5,774 mins, 63.7 matches of 90 minutes, including five finals, so the people speaking about these minutes, I think they are a bit confused.

“Marcus is not [Liverpool striker] Dominic Solanke, not [Chelsea midfielder] Ruben Loftus-Cheek, not [Everton forward] Dominic Calvert-Lewin,” he added.

“He’s Marcus Rashford, a Manchester United player, with an incredible number of appearances and an incredible number of minutes played at the highest level in the best possible competitions.”

And United fans clearly enjoyed the way Mourinho hit back at his critics, taking to Twitter to show their appreciation.

One enjoyed his jibe at the Liverpool striker in particular: “’Marcus Rashford is not Dominic Solanke.’ Lol Mourinho likes to start trouble.”

One United fan described him as a ‘boss’: “Jose Mourinho is BOSS. Been tearing the clueless English media with facts since 2004. I like that part about him #mourinho #rashford.”

While another tweeted: “Jose Mourinho is seemingly back to his old best. He’s destroying people left and right.”

Rashford is ruled out of tomorrow’s game at unbeaten Watford with suspension.

He was handed a straight red card after leaning into experienced defender Phil Bardsley mid-way through the second half during United’s 2-0 win at Burnley.
