MAN UTD NEWS – Starsport brings you all the latest news and gossip from Old Trafford.
Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku appears to have been left out of the side for today’s clash at Bournemouth.
Many United stars were pictured boarding a plane earlier today ahead of the Premier League match at the Vitality Stadium tomorrow lunch-time.
But one key man that appears to have been left out though is Lukaku.
The Belgian striker was not spotted in pictures taken by the Manchester Evening News at the airport this afternoon, leading many to believe he will not feature in tomorrow’s game.
It is unclear whether he was already onboard the plane or is due to meet up with the squad separately.
Jose Mourinho is still on Real Madrid’s radar following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui this week.
The Portuguese joined the Spanish giants in 2010 after guiding Inter Milan to the treble, but wasn’t able to repeat the feat in Madrid.
But club chief Florentino Perez is keen for him to return and try to claim more silverware.
And he’s monitoring Mourinho’s situation at Manchester United, with the prospect of the ex-Chelsea man being sacked and therefore available for no compensation not ruled out.
“I would think that the opportunity to go straight back into work at a club of the same stature, the same financial stature, with more European trophies to its name – substantially (more) than Manchester United – be offered to him, he’d find it very difficult to turn down,” journalist Duncan Castles said.
“I think Florentino Perez is aware of that, and Florentino Perez is monitoring that situation carefully.
“And if that possibility was to fall into his lap where he didn’t have to go through the torturous, hellish process involved in getting Daniel Levy to release a player, a manager or a coach and he had the opportunity to take Mourinho at no cost he would take that opportunity.”
Manchester United will be able to call on both Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard this weekend as the return from injury, Jose Mourinho has confirmed.
The Special One has confirmed a major squad boost ahead of the match, with Sanchez and Lingard both ready to play.
He said: “A very good week. We work tactically, we improve some fitness levels.
“We improve some of the players that were almost there but not there – Lingard, Alexis – these kind of players, that were already available but not yet at a good level.
“We trained with our kids too. They mixed with us on one of the days, which is an amazing feeling for them.”
