YOUNG IRISH FOOTBALLER Jordan McEneff has taken a significant step forward in his career by signing his first professional contract with Arsenal.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has been rewarded for the progress he has made since joining the English Premier League club on a scholarship from Coleraine.

McEneff, the younger brother of Derry City midfielder Aaron, was a member of the Republic of Ireland U17 squad that reached the European Championship quarter-finals earlier this year.
The Derry native played underage football for Northern Ireland before switching his allegiance and scoring in his debut for the U16s against Hungary in February 2017.
“I’m probably the first Irish person over here in a good few years as well, which is even better,” McEneff told the Derry Journal in an interview last year about life at Arsenal.
“Hopefully I do my best, impress and get into the first-team some day.”
