Watch: Republican Louie Gohmert Questions Peter Strzok Looking Into His Wife’s Eyes and Lying About Lisa Page Affair

Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas exploded on FBI agent Peter Strzok during his testimony Thursday before Congress, questioning Strzok having a smirk on this face and looking innocently into this wife’s eyes and lying about an affair he had with former FBI lawyer Lisa Page.

Gohmert’s tough words were met with cries from Democrats appearing at the joint House Judiciary and Oversight Committees, with one Democrat shouting the Texas republican needed to take his medication.

“And I’ve talked to FBI agents around the country,” Gohmert said. “You’ve embarrassed them, you’ve embarrassed yourself. And I can’t help but wonder when I see you looking there with a little smirk, how many times did you look so innocent into your wife’s eye and lie to her about Lisa…”

“This is intolerable harassment of a witness!”

Strzok did not respond to Gohmert’s outburst about the affair with Page. The 26-year FBI veteran Strzok is married to Melissa Hodgman.

The incident was one of several occasions throughout the hours-long hearing that Strzok faced personal attacks from Republicans including Gohmert, as well as Jim Jordan of Ohio, Trey Gowdy of South Carolina and Bob Goodlatte of Virginia.

Goodlatte, who was chairing the joint hearing, brought up Strzok’s text messages in reference to what he thought about Trump supporters, asking “what does Trump support smell like?” and also asked if he thought the president’s base was made up of “hillbillies.”

Strzok, who was part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe, repeatedly denied any bias toward Trump. His texts with Page have come under heavy scrutiny following their release in the Justice Department Inspector General’s report last month, including one in which he states “we’ll stop it,” in reference to a Trump election victory.

The DOJ IG report, however, concluded it could not find evidence of “political bias” toward Trump.

During his time, Gohmert had repeatedly asked Strozk questions about the Hillary Clinton private email server probe that he headed up but Strzok said he could not recall much of what the congressman was asking.

The attack was similar to that of President Donald Trump, who has routinely referred to Strzok as “lover boy” and on Wednesday called Page “ex-FBI LAYER” in a tweet. The president has used the affair as reason to suggest there was political bias within the FBI and Justice Department against his former campaign and administration.

“Ex-FBI LAYER Lisa Page today defied a House of Representatives issued Subpoena to testify before Congress! Wow, but is anybody really surprised! Together with her lover, FBI Agent Peter Strzok, she worked on the Rigged Witch Hunt, perhaps the most tainted and corrupt case EVER! ” Trump tweeted.

Gohmert, a defender of President Trump, made headlines recently when he made his own wild claims against the Justice Department. In separate interviews, Gohmert said he had reason to believe that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was spying on him and his staff.
