31 militants killed in E. Afghanistan clashes


GHAZNI, Afghanistan, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) — Thirty-one militants loyal to the Taliban were killed following a spate of Afghan and coalition forces operations in Afghanistan’s eastern Ghazni province over the past 24 hours, Aref Noori, the provincial governor’s spokesman said Tuesday.

According to the official, four insurgents were killed in Mirak village of Qarabagh district, while joint Afghan and NATO airstrikes killed 27 others and destroyed several vehicles of the Taliban insurgents in Mushaki, Muchi and Mullahkhil villages of Muqur district in Ghazni province since Monday.

Neither government troops nor civilians have been hurt during the conflicts, the source said.

Taliban militants fighting government forces in the troubled province have not commented on the report.
