The former American Idol star, who famously came runner-up behind Kris Allen on the 2009 series of the show, dropped his latest track New Eyes on Wednesday morning.

The laid back single is Adam’s first song off his upcoming fourth album Velvet, which is slated for release later this year.

Chatting about the song, Adam said: “I wanted my first single to reflect my current state of mind and to bring listeners into a romantic, earthy vibe.

“New Eyes is a love letter to innocence and to finding new passions.”

New Eyes is Adam’s first release since 2017 track Two F*x.

Since then he has been busy touring the world with British music royalty Queen.

Adam joined the group as lead singer in 2014 to take over lead vocals from the late Freddie Mercury.

The 37-year-old recently opened up about following in the footsteps of the icon.

Speaking on-stage during Queen documentary The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story, Adam said: “I know some of you out there are thinking, ‘He’s no Freddie Mercury, though.’

“No sh**. There will only be, for all of time, one rock god, Freddie Mercury.

“Thank you for giving me a chance.”

Adam will no doubt be hoping that Velvet continues his chart success.

Ever since his debut album For Your Entertainment charted at No36 in the UK, each record has built on his success.

His second offering, Trespassing, cracked the Top 20 when it came in at No16, while his third and most recent album, The Original High, peaked at No8.

ADAM Lambert has kicked off the latest part of his new era in style.
