ARSENAL news and gossip – Starsport brings you all the latest from the Emirates.

Aaron Ramsey is playing well at the moment in order to put himself in the shop window for next summer, according to Gunners legend Tony Adams.

The Welshman is out of contract at the end of the season and he’s set to leave the Emirates after the club retracted their offer of a new deal.

“He’s obviously playing really well because he is a free at the end of the season,” Adams said on BT Sport.

“He’s trying to get himself the best club possible isn’t he.

“It’s a bit of a weird situation that.”

And Adams believes Arsenal have been riding their luck and could crumble if they hit a tricky spell.

“We’ve not hit a tough period yet, we’ve got a lot of games coming up,” he said.

“They are on a roll and confidence is high but they’ve not got injuries.

“And everything (Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang’s touching at the moment is going in the back of the net as well.

“Ramsey’s coming on scoring goals, there’s a lot of things going Arsenal’s way.

“They’re having a bit of the rub of the green at the moment.

“And that over the course of the season does change in my experience.”

Lucas Torreira’s tenacity in midfield is reminiscent of Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, according to former Liverpool man Don Hutchison.

“What did he cost? £26m from Sampdoria,” he told Optus Sport.

“Brilliant signing, he had a great World Cup.

“He’s exactly what Arsenal have been needing for years, someone that can get around the pitch, someone that you know if you’re playing against him you’re in for a tough afternoon.

“He gets around the pitch like Kante. He’s so busy, he’s got a great engine the way he gets around.

“He’s got a low centre of gravity where he’s ratting at your ankles and you’re never sure if you can take touches on the ball and get your head up and try and spray a pass because he’s all over you.”
