EDEN HAZARD has a ‘full agreement’ with Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain – but the Blues may sign Marco Asensio in return as part of any deal.
The Belgian has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish giants in recent months and has flirted with the idea of a transfer.
Hazard’s form this term means he is hot property at present and Madrid are keener than ever to land the forward.
Onda Madrid, via their show El Partido de la Una, claim Los Blancos now have a full agreement with Hazard over a summer transfer.
However, Madrid still need to agree terms with Chelsea, who are demanding £170m for their star player
Onda Madrid report the Champions League holders don’t want to pay anywhere near that amount and are now looking at other options to lower the price.
Florentino Perez and co. are willing to allow Mateo Kovacic to stay at Stamford Bridge as part of the transfer.
But if that was to fail then Marco Asensio, who has struggled to hold down a regular place at the Bernabeu, may be used as a makeweight with any deal.
The Spaniard signed for Madrid back in 2014 from Mallorca.
Hazard is a long-term candidate to take the captaincy if he was to agree a new Chelsea deal.
But the Belgian wasn’t exactly keen to put his name in the ring for the team role.
“Yes, I don’t want to say no of course,” he told Sky Sports when asked if he would like to be captain.
“But I think some of the players deserve more to be captain than me.
“I mean outside football I always try to give everything for the fans, like in interviews I try to be an example, so if I’m the captain I would be happy.”
Hazard is set to start against Wolves in the Premier League this evening.
