The Rams were one goal down heading into tonight’s clash but recorded a 4-2 win in a thrilling match from start to finish.
Derby had lost their previous three matches against Leeds this season but saved their best effort until last, booking their place in this month’s Wembley showpiece with a late Jack Marriott goal.
And Lampard could not hide his delight at full-time.
The Chelsea legend was on the pitch the second Anthony Taylor’s whistle was blown.
Lampard sprinted onto the Elland Road turf, instantly joined by his backroom staff, embracing his heroes for their performance.
And soon after, the players, the staff and Lampard himself were in front of the away end singing and dancing.
Speaking on the pitch, he told Sky Sports: “Huge performance. There’s work still to do.
“We’re underdogs again, we’ll have a tough day at Wembley but we’re there, we’re there.
“We were 1-0 down and everyone had wrote us off.
“We changed the system and it worked brilliantly.”
Leeds took a narrow 1-0 lead into tonight’s second leg clash with Derby.
And fans had certainly enjoyed themselves at Pride Park last week, fashioning a song out of Oasis’ ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’.
“Cos all of the spies are hidden away,” fans sang, to the tune of the 2002 hit.
“Try not to worry, you’ll beat us some day.
“We beat you at home and we beat you away.
“Stop crying Frank Lampard.”
But after Derby’s win at tonight, it was the Rams’ turn to poke fun at their opponents.
“Lampard to bust out a rendition of stop crying your heart out in front of the Leeds fans,” one supporter tweeted.
“Stop crying your heart out #lufc,” one said.
“Derby fans quickly fashioning new lyrics for Stop Crying Your Heart Out #LEEDER,” another said.
“Leeds fans kind of deserve this for rewriting ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’, an awful song,” one added.
“Forgotten that stop crying your heart out chant pretty quickly haven’t they #lufc,” a fifth said.
DERBY COUNTY boss Frank Lampard will make the headlines after his side beat Leeds at Elland Road to reach the Championship play-off final.
