The wedding celebrations of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas kicked off Thursday as the couple arrived at Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace in Rajasthan, India, Chopra’s home country. The couple would exchange wedding vows in a Christian ceremony Dec. 2 , followed by a Hindu ceremony later the same day.
Wedding guests also started to arrive at the hotel. Nick’s older brother Joe arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday with his fiancé Sophie Turner, and the duo accompanied the coon-to-be-married couple to Jodhpur. Family members Joe and Danielle, along with their daughters, would also be present at the wedding. Chord Overstreet, the former “Glee” star and a close friend of Jonas, had already arrived in India too.
Indian newspaper DNA reported that actor Dwayne Johnson, of “Fast and Furious” fame, would be attending the wedding. He acted with Chopra in “Baywatch” and with Jonas in “Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle.”
Invite were also sent to Chopra’s “Quantico” co-star Yasmine Al Massri, as well as to Jonathan Tucker, who starred alongside Jonas in the TV series “Kingdom.” Chopra’s friend and mother-to-be Meghan Markle, along with her husband Prince Harry, have also been invited but they were yet to confirm attendance. However, given Markle’s pregnancy, it was unlikely they would attend the wedding.
The other guests include Ack Mcbrayer, the “30 Rock” actor, who arrived in India. Kelly Ripa, who attended Chopra’s exclusive bridal shower at Tiffany’s, was also invited but was yet to confirm her attendance. Lupita Nyong’o was also expected to attend the wedding. Demi Lovato, a good friend of Jonas (both were stars on Disney Channel) has been invited, however, there’s no word yet on whether or not she planned to join in the celebrations.
Hilary Duff and Mattew Koma have also been invited. Koma worked on some of Priyanka’s most popular songs, like “In My City.”
The “Quantico” actor, 36, and the “Chains” singer, 26, got engaged Aug. 18, two months after it was reported they started dating.
A total of 64 rooms have been booked at the Umaid Bhawan Palace for the event, while another 65 rooms have been reserved at another hotel for the guests. Earlier, 100 guests were expected to attend the wedding, but that number is up to 250 now, DNA reported.
