Bob Lazar hit headlines in 1989 when he told a Las Vegas TV station that nine alien spacecraft were being tested and analysed in the secretive Nevada base by US scientists.

After his shock announcements in which he used the pseudonym “Dennis”, he said the government went to great lengths to stop him talking, the scientist claimed.

Allegedly, he was warned he would be prosecuted for espionage and he and his wife had been threatened – so he claimed.

He said: “Anything could happen; I don’t know. I haven’t the slightest idea.”

But in a sensational new documentary, the UFO guru claims he is still being followed by officials for exposing “the truth”.

Speaking on Bob Lazar: Area 51 and Flying Saucers, Mr Lazar said despite maintaining a low profile, he is still being spied on by the government.

He doesn’t think the government is necessarily after him, but he thinks he is being watched.

Mr Lazar said: “At the risk of sounding paranoid, I do always have a suspicion that someone is monitoring me – it’s something that is difficult to get out of my mind.”

He said a recent “FBI raid”, which is mentioned in the movie but is not filmed, “pretty much cements it in my mind”.

Mr Lazar said he was working in Area 51 and had seen nine flying discs being tested and flown secretly by the US.

He said he worked to reverse engineer the propulsion systems on aircraft that would have been “totally impossible” for US officials to create themselves.

Filmmaker Jeremy Corbell said he saw Mr Lazar’s appearance at 13 and it changed his life forever.

He says Mr Lazar is like “the Elvis, the Bigfoot and the Messiah of ufology”.

But Mr Lazar claims he took part the documentary to set the record straight about his life after 1989.

He claims it has been impacted his life negatively for the most part and he wouldn’t make the same claims again.
