ARSENAL might just be the favourites to beat Liverpool in the Premier League tomorrow.
That’s according to Reds legend John Barnes who reckons the Gunners have impressed this season.
Arsenal currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, four points behind Liverpool in second.
And Unai Emery has impressed after a slow start going on a long unbeaten run with the Gunners.
And that has led Barnes to believe Liverpool could be in trouble at the Emirates tomorrow.
“Arsenal are at home and might arguably be favourites”
Liverpool legend John Barnes
He said on talkSPORT: “I probably would have made Liverpool favourites last year, and of course they have started very well this year, but I think the harmony is better at Arsenal now.
“The manager is doing well and they’re playing good football.
“We [Liverpool] have got a better balance, because defensively we’re solid now thanks to Alisson and Virgil van Dijk.
“But Arsenal are at home and might arguably be favourites with the way they are playing.
“I think it’s going to be a very tight game.”
Barnes clearly gives Arsenal more of a chance than former Gunners star and Starsport columnist Paul Merson.
He has not been convinced by Emery’s side despite their good recent form.
“They’ve done well, don’t get me wrong, but they haven’t played anybody yet,” he explained.
“When they come up against Liverpool at the Emirates, I would be shocked if Liverpool didn’t win by three clear goals. They will rip Arsenal to shreds.”
Arsenal welcome Liverpool to the Emirates at 5.30pm tomorrow in the Premier League.
A win for the Gunners would move them within one point of Jurgen Klopp’s side.
