ARSENAL face high-flying Liverpool on Saturday in the Premier League’s stand-out fixture.

The Gunners had won 11 consecutive games in all competitions before drawing to Crystal Palace last weekend.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are currently joint-top of the table, alongside defending champions Manchester City.

The pair are unbeaten on 26 points out of a possible 30 and are looking imperious so far.

Chelsea, the other unbeaten team, sit on 24 points after winning one less game.

Unai Emery’s Arsenal side have impressed recently after starting the season with two losses.

Since the defeats to City and Chelsea, the Gunners are unbeaten, although some are saying they have yet to play anyone that they were expected to beat.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have already faced three of the top five, drawing with City and Chelsea and beating Tottenham at Wembley.

And former Reds striker Michael Owen has given his verdict on the contest at the Emirates.

“Arsenal’s long winning run came to an end at Selhurst Park on Sunday and this is their first game against a “big six” club since their losses to Manchester City and Chelsea at the beginning of the season,” Owen said.

“The Gunners have not led at half-time in any of their Premier League games so far this season and they will need to be at the top of their game from the off against a Liverpool side who will try and hit the hosts hard on the break.

“A big game for both clubs – Arsenal will move to within a point of the Reds with a win, but the gap will be seven if Jurgen Klopp’s side take the points. A Liverpool win for me. 3-1.”

Ahead of the game, Gunners boss Emery said: “We want to write a new history… I believe in my players and this project.

“The result is very important but first I want to show them, to show you and to show everybody our best mentality in the game.”

When asked about Emery, Klopp was full of admiration.

“We want to write a new history… I believe in my players and this project,” he said.

“The result is very important but first I want to show them, to show you and to show everybody our best mentality in the game.”
