Champions League: Gabriel Jesus will get hat trick in Manchester Metropolis shutout

Gabriel Jesus pocketed a hat trick in Manchester City’s 6-0 domination of Shakhtar Donetsk in Champions League play on Wednesday in Manchester, England.

The Brazilian striker scored in the 24th, 72nd and 92nd minutes of the Group F matchup at Etihad Stadium. The Sky Blues also shutout their Ukrainian foes in the first leg of their Group F matchup 3-0 on Oct. 23 in the Ukraine.

David Silva got the scoring started for City in the 13th minute. Riyad Mahrez dribbled against several defenders on the right side of the net before eventually spotting Silva in front of the goal. He raced toward the end line before firing a quick pass to Silva, who buried a tap-in past keeper Andriy Pyatov.

Then came the first of Jesus’ trio of tallies. That score came via penalty kick before Raheem Sterling gave the Sky Blues a 3-0 advantage in the 48th minute. Sterling dribbled around multiple defenders before blasting a shot into the far-post netting from just outside the box on that play.

Jesus’ final tally came in the 2nd minute of stoppage time. Mahrez spotted Jesus sprinting down the middle of the pitch on a breakaway during that play. Jesus tracked the pass before sending in a 30 yard chip for City’s sixth and final goal of the match.
