LIVERPOOL midfielder James Milner suffered a broken nose in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal.
Milner damaged his hooter in a collision with Liverpool team-mate Joe Gomez in the second half.
The veteran midfielder was patched up and saw out the remaining minutes of the game.
Milner had opened the scoring with the 50th goal of his Premier League career.
Liverpool lost two points, however, when Alexandre Lacazette levelled late on for Arsenal.
Milner said: “It’s disappointing, when you are 1-0 up late on you should see it out and we didn’t manage to do that. At both ends of the field we can do better.
“The pleasing thing is the chances we created. I didn’t know that was my 50th Premier League goal which is nice but it would have been nicer to get three points.
“We could have kept our shape better in the first half, we needed to be more solid, that’s somehing to learn from. We were better in the second half and were a threat from set-pieces.”
Arsenal lost their opening games of the season against Manchester City and Chelsea but highlighted their progression by fighting back to earn a point against Liverpool.
Goalscorer Lacazette said: “The first big game we lost but we knew if we work like we did for 12 games we can have points and we felt we had the quality to play the top of the league tonight.
“The first half was hard, but in the second half we were better and more physical.”
Alex Iwobi stepped off the bench to set up Lacazette’s winner, and he believes they were good value for a point.
“It was a difficult game with both attacking teams and I guess the fair result was the draw,” he said.
“We are giving extra intensity and you can see the manager demands a lot not just in games but on the training pitch and it is paying off.”
The draw sees Arsenal remain fourth in the Premier League table.
Liverpool are still unbeaten and leapfrog Manchester City at the summit, who play tomorrow.
