MANCHESTER UNITED PLAYER RATINGS: Manchester United beat Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium this afternoon.
Red hot striker Callum Wilson ensured United got off to a horrific start, after just 11 minutes.
Luke Shaw cleared a corner but the ball came straight back in and the United defence were caught napping as Wilson nipped in to tap in his sixth goal of the season.
Eddie Howe’s men dominated the opening half hour, but the Red Devils came back into it when Ashley Young and Alexis Sanchez combined to set up in-form Anthony Martial who slotted home past Asmir Begovic on 35 minutes.
United improved considerably in the second half, and should really have gone ahead when Ashley Young hit the woodwork with a free-kick before Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba both fluffed attempts from the rebound.
David De Gea denied the lively David Brooks with one cracking save, and eventually substitute Marcus Rashford stepped up to claim the three points for United.
The England striker pounced two minutes into injury time after Paul Pogba had sent a great cross into the box and Nathan Ake and Adam Smith had failed to deal with it.
The result means United overtake Watford and go seventh, level on points with the Cherries – and just six points off the top of the table, although all the other clubs are yet to play this weekend.
Next up for United is a daunting trip to Juventus on Wednesday night, before an equally tricky game away to local rivals Manchester City next Sunday.
