The Reds took the lead in the second-half through James Milner’s fiercely driven shot after Bernd Leno failed to hold Sadio Mane’s cross.

But Salah struggled to have a telling impact on the game and Arsenal fought back for a well-deserved point.

Alexandre Lacazette produced a classy finish past Alisson in the 82nd minute much to the delight of boss Unai Emery.

And much to the disbelief of the Liverpool’s supporters on social media Keown laid into Salah just two weeks after praising him.

“I look at Salah, and he doesn’t look the real deal for me,” he said on BT Sport.

“When you really go for it and look at him, he was very quiet today. Something is wrong.

“Maybe the injury he has is affecting him and he doesn’t want to get hurt. He’s not really the same player.”

The Egyptian was dispossessed six times during the game and failed to win a single free-kick.

But he did complete more dribbles than any other player on the pitch with a total of four.

And Salah’s fans came out in support of their man and hammered Keown at the same time.

One wrote on Twitter: “Martin Keown has just said ‘Salah isn’t the real deal’?! Have a f**king day off pal, the guy’s scored 51 goals in 67 games.

“Want him to lay some golden eggs as well do you. Ya bloody turtle.”

Another added: “Martin Keown just said Salah isn’t the “real deal” swear to god BT Sport pundits just get worse every week.”

“Now saying Salah is not the same player since the CL final because of his injury!! Someone have a word with Keown,” wrote a third.

The result means Manchester City can go clear at the top of the Premier League when they face Southampton today.

Liverpool are in Champions League action on Tuesday when they travel to Serbia to take on Red Star Belgrade (5.55pm).
