Their weddings took place almost 40 years apart, but royal fans have spotted an uncanny similarity between Charles and Harry’s wedding days.
Recently unearthed footage from the Prince of Wales’ big day in 1981 shows the heir to the throne nervously touching his face and wiping his eyes in a gesture mimicked by his youngest son 37 years later.
The similarities were spotted by royal fan account @loveprincessdiana on Friday and quickly melted hearts on Instagram, racking up almost 40,000 views and hundreds of comments.
Commenting on the footage, one fan wrote: ‘He might have [acted like]Prince Charles does, but he looks like his Prince Philip when he was young.’
Charles wed Lady Diana Spencer at St. Paul’s Cathedral in a ceremony watched by millions all over the world, and the young prince couldn’t hide his nerves as he met his bride at the altar.
He could be seen nervously touching his nose and mouth with a gloved hand and appeared to be wiping away a tear as he stood beside Diana.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ big day was watched by an estimated global audience of 750 million.
On May 19 this year, an equally emotional Prince Harry appeared to try his eyes after meeting Meghan Markle at the altar inside St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
Their wedding outfits are currently on display at Windsor Castle until January 2019.
The couple had been engaged for just six months when they tied the knot earlier this year, and are expecting their first child next spring.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are nearing the end of a 16-day royal tour which has seen them take in Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.
Meghan, 37, is estimated to have spent £80,000 on her royal tour wardrobe and counting.
