As states run out of funds, you must apply for stimulus assistance worth up to (dollar)63,000 – see if you qualify.

STRUGGLING renters should apply for tens of thousands of dollars in stimulus funds as soon as possible, as states are running out of money.

You can get up to 18 months’ worth of rent and utilities paid for through the rental assistance program.

In December, Congress approved (dollar)25 billion in aid, which was followed by (dollar)21.55 billion in March as part of the American Rescue Plan.

According to the most recent data from the Department of Treasury, just over (dollar)10 billion of the funds had been distributed by the end of September.

The Treasury distributes funds to states based on their population, and some of the most populous are already running low on cash.

The state of New York, for example, announced on Friday that applications would be limited because the “total request for assistance exceeds available funding.”

Meanwhile, Texas has announced that it will stop accepting new applications once the number of requests has reached the limit of available rent relief.

By November 10th, the city of Austin had distributed all of the available (dollar)35 million in local and federal rental relief funds to over 8,000 households.

Oregon also announced on November 12 that it will stop accepting new applications on December 1 because nearly all of its (dollar)289 million in funding has been requested.

The application restrictions will remain in place until more funding becomes available, which is unlikely.

To put it another way, if you’re having trouble, apply as soon as possible or you might miss out entirely.

To be eligible for rental assistance, you must have suffered financial hardship as a result of the pandemic and be in arrears on your rent.

You must also meet local income requirements, which vary by state.

In most cases, your household income cannot be more than 80% of the local median income.

In New York, for example, you are required to receive unemployment benefits, or you may be eligible if your income has decreased.

You should also show that you are at risk of becoming homeless if you do not receive assistance.

The amount you can get is also determined by where you live and your specific circumstances.

Eligible households can receive up to 18 months of rent assistance, including overdue rent, through a federal program that runs through March 13, 2020.

However, not every state provides assistance for the entire 18-month period.

Renters in Arizona, for example, can receive up to (dollar)3,500 per month in rent and utility assistance for a maximum of 18 months, totaling (dollar)63,000.

Meanwhile, residents in some New Jersey counties can receive up to (dollar)10,000 over the course of six months.

In Connecticut, the program provides up to (dollar)1,500 in rent assistance and up to (dollar)10,000 in rent assistance…
