BURGER King has brought back its popular chicken fries – and it’s also launched a huge sharing box.
The fast food giant confirmed the news today and revealed that the current reduced menu would also be expanded.
For those who’ve yet to try them, chicken fries are breaded strips of meat seasoned with a mix of herbs and spices.
They also come in a fiery jalapeno flavour too, if you like things spicy.
Burger King sell their chicken fries in packs of six or nine – priced at £3.29 or £3.79, respectively.
If you go for the spicy jalapeno version, these cost £3.49 for six, or £3.89 for nine.
But now you can also buy a sharing box of the fried goodies, plus other fan favourites, if you’re feeling extra hungry.
The share box – which costs £5.99 – comes with five chicken fries, five nuggets, five chilli cheese bites, five onion rings and two dips.
It’s a good deal if you consider a pack of chicken fries costs £3.29 for six, then you’d usually pay £2.89 for six chicken nuggets, £1.69 for four chilli cheese bites and £1.99 for eight onion rings.
That means altogether, these items cost £9.86 individually – although you do get one less chicken fry, one less nugget and two less onion rings with the share box.
You do, however, get one more chilli cheese bite.
Both the share box and regular chicken fries are a permanent menu addition, but Burger King told us the jalapeno fries are only around for a limited time.
If you’re watching your weight following lockdown, you’ll want to know that a six-piece box of chicken fries has 212 calories, and the nine-piece set has 280 calories.
The latest menu addition comes as Burger King confirmed it plans on doing half price Whoppers this summer as part of the government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
Burger King has been running a reduced menu since it started reopening restaurants following the coronavirus lockdown.
Fan favourites that are still available include Whoppers, Chicken Royals and Double Bacon XLs – with chicken fries marking the first item to make a return to Burger King.
The fast food chain started reopening sites for delivery, via Just Eat and Deliveroo, on April 17.
It has since allowed restaurants to serve drive-thru and click and collect – although it hasn’t start letting customers dine-in.
Burger King has around 500 restaurants in the UK – use the online store finder to track down your nearest branch.
Not all sites will be offering each form of ordering, so make sure you check before making the journey.
It had initially shut all restaurants due to Covid-19 on March 23.
