‘He said I had model legs,’ according to one out of ten complaints about driving instructors.

Which? conducted a survey of 4,000 UK adults and found that instructors are the source of many complaints.

According to a survey conducted by Which?, one out of every ten complaints about driving instructors involves them behaving inappropriately during lessons.

One woman told i she was told she had “model legs” during her first driving lesson, and another said her instructor regularly tapped her leg while teaching her, making her feel like she needed to plan an “escape route” out of the car.

According to a survey of 4,000 UK adults, roughly 60% of learner drivers had issues with their instructor, with one out of every ten complaints involving inappropriate behavior.

During driving lessons in east London in autumn 2020, a 25-year-old woman reported inappropriate touching.

She said her instructor was a “nice guy” in general, but the atmosphere in the car made her feel “really uneasy” and “on edge.”

“He used to tap me on the leg if he wanted me to break or take my foot off the clutch,” she said.

“Sometimes it’d be my right leg, so he’d lean over and tap me on the shoulder to encourage me to get my foot off the brake or something.”

“Every time he did it, I thought to myself, ‘What the f**k?’

He seemed to be invading my personal space, and I suddenly realized I was in the car with a complete stranger.”

She went on to say that the instructor would occasionally assist her in parking the car by leaning over and grabbing the steering wheel while she was operating the pedals.

“I could see his face next to mine.

“He used to get really up in my face the whole time,” she said, recalling that this was during Covid’s tenure.

“I believe that male driving instructors should take into account how women feel when they’re in the car with them.”

It made me feel like I always had to plan an escape route from the car as a woman, which is absurd, but that’s how it feels.”

Her instructor also told her that other women had complained about his behavior, but he dismissed the complaints as “ridiculous and snowflake-ish.”

Another woman claimed to have had two “really dodgy” driving instructors.
