Morrisons has just launched a “Serve our Students” food delivery service designed to get essentials to people self isolating in halls and campuses.
The service will launch at the Birley and Cambridge Halls at Manchester Met University – where around 1,500 have been asked to self-isolate – and will expand to other universities.
Students at affected campuses will be able to email [email protected] to put in an order today, to be delivered tomorrow between 5pm – 7pm.
There’s no delivery charge for this week’s service to Manchester and more locations are planned for later on in the week.
Morrisons chief executive David Potts said: “Students have asked for our help and that’s why we are making sure they can safely access affordable food at this very difficult time. We’re playing our full part in feeding the nation so that no one is left behind.”
The students will also be able to put orders in by 2pm for delivery that evening in the future with the service rolled out to universities across the country if it works out.
There are five food boxes available – Meat Essentials, Vegetarian Essentials, Easy Meals for the Week and Big Night In.
Oh, and Morrisons is also offering a choice of drinks.
The service is available to anyone who is self-isolating for a charge of £4.50 – student or not – while it remains free for elderly customers.
All boxes are ordered online and delivered to customers doors the next day by DPD.
Students can also use Morrisons on Amazon service that comes with free same-day delivery and Morrisons service on Deliveroo to order from more than 200 grocery items with delivery in as little as under 30 minutes.
Morrisons food box range also includes:
