Price of rare coins – A red-brown Lincoln penny sells for (dollar)2,125, prompting experts to urge collectors to search their collections.

Rare coins can turn your spare change into a windfall, with one penny recently selling for over (dollar)2,000.

On November 7, the coin, a 1909-S VDB Lincoln wheat copper cent, was sold.

The coin was sold by eBay user treefrog999, who has a perfect feedback rating and has received over 50 bids.

The coin was described as a “red-brown” piece, which typically means it has a red surface that ranges from 5% to 95%.

Coins from the same year, the 1909-S VDB, have recently sold for hundreds of dollars less.

Victor David Brenner, who designed the coin, is represented by the initials VDB.

Only 484,000 coins bearing the designer’s initials are said to have been made, with only 50,000 believed to remain.

From 1878 to 1904, the coin was minted again in 1921, and then again in 2021 as a special non-circulating coin.

The 1893 Morgan dollar is said to be the most rare, so it’s no surprise it sold for (dollar)4,550 on eBay earlier this year.

Thousands of Morgan silver dollar coins from 1893 are currently listed for sale on eBay.
