According to James Gunn, two surprising Marvel stars have never visited the set of the Guardians of the Galaxy film.

Despite the fact that Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel are integral parts of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast’s onscreen chemistry, they have never been on the set of the films.

According to filmmaker James Gunn, who made the surprising revelation in response to a fan’s comment on Instagram.

Cooper and Diesel provide the voices for Rocket Raccoon and Groot, respectively, and they do so in a voice acting booth rather than on set, where their characters have other actors standing in for them just to get the blocking and eyelines right.

It’s not surprising that they haven’t made it out to the set, given their busy schedules — both are huge stars, with Diesel starring in other franchises and Cooper directing his own films on the side.

Even so, it’s odd to think that with three films and a holiday special, two of the major characters will have never seen the Milano in person.

“[Sean Gunn] does all of Rocket’s acting and motion capture,” Gunn said in the comments of an Instagram post (via The Direct).

“Bradley provided the voice.

Vin and Bradley have never worked on the set of the Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Maybe in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, they’ll be able to bring one of them in as a Bea Arthur-style celebrity guest.

In terms of tone, it’d be more in line with the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise than with Star Wars.

But even if they don’t, it’s not like they’re missing out on the thrill of working on massive Hollywood sets on a regular basis.

There aren’t many details about what to expect from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 yet.

One new piece of information revealed on Monday as part of the production announcement was that Peacemaker star Chukwudi Iwuji had been cast in a role that “most every big name actor in Hollywood wanted,” though no details on who Iwuji will play have been released.

Will Poulter, who was previously announced to join the film’s cast as Adam Warlock, was also seen in the photo Gunn shared.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 is a sequel to the original Guardians of the Galaxy
