On Thursday, October 21, while filming his film Rust, Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun, injuring the director and killing another crew member.

The incident happened in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the Bonanza Creek Ranch.

“Good afternoon, Mr.

“Baldwin came in voluntarily to speak with investigators,” sheriff’s spokesman Juan Ros said in a statement, adding that the case would be handled like “any other investigation.”

As the set remained on lockdown, detectives were trying to figure out “what type of projectile was discharged.”

After being struck, the victims, director Joel Souza and director of photography Halyna Hutchins, were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Hutchins, 42, was pronounced dead in Albuquerque’s University of New Mexico Hospital.

For his part, the 48-year-old filmmaker was escorted to Christus St.

Souza’s condition was initially unknown, but his representative informed Deadline on Friday, October 22 that he was released from the hospital.

“The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones,” the film’s production company, Rust Movie Productions LLC, said in a statement regarding the accident.

We’ve put the film on hold for an unknown amount of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation.

As we work to process this terrible event, we will be providing counseling services to everyone associated with the film.”

Hutchins, who was originally from Ukraine, had been updating her Instagram followers on the filming process in the days leading up to her death.

“One of the perks of shooting a western is getting to ride horses on your day off:),” she captioned a video of herself on horseback on Wednesday, October 20.

“There are no words to express my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother, and deeply admired colleague of ours,” the Emmy winner wrote on Twitter on Friday.

To the best of my ability, I am fully cooperating with the police investigation.
