After all, LeVar Burton is going to be on a game show.

Levar Burton’s ambition to host a game show has been realized!

Burton is transitioning from reading the rainbow to handing out rainbow wedge game pieces as he prepares to host the new Trivial Pursuit TV game show. Burton will serve as an executive producer on the series, which is co-produced by Hasbro and Entertainment One, but a network has yet to be determined. Perhaps all of the networks should compete in a trivia battle to see who should get it?

Burton appears to be as enthralled as the rest of us.

“In the gaming universe, Trivial Pursuit is one of the most well-known brands,” the Emmy Award–winning actor said.

“I’m ecstatic to be working with Hasbro and eOne to bring this beloved game to life on television as a premium show.”

Burton is the “perfect” fit for the show, according to Tara Long, president of global unscripted television at eOne, and we agree.

“From Roots to Reading Rainbow to Star Trek and beyond, LeVar Burton has been an iconic figure in American pop culture for decades,” she said.

“His passion for intellectual curiosity, combined with his ability to connect with audiences around the world, make him the ideal partner for bringing Hasbro’s popular trivia game to new and exciting audiences.”

This is a welcome development for fans of the actor, who was in the running to replace the late Alex Trebek on Sony TV’s Jeopardy! earlier this year, but lost out to Mayim Bialik and now-disgraced producer Mike Richards despite an online petition garnering nearly a quarter of a million signatures and him serving as a guest host from July 26 to July 30, 2018.

The premiere date has yet to be determined, but in the meantime, we’ll be playing board games and binge-watching Star Trek films to prepare.
