After Revenge Dress Comparisons, Taylor Swift debunks Princess Diana’s ‘Easter Egg’ Theory.

It isn’t as it appears.

Taylor Swift often assumes that her fans will interpret her every move, but she didn’t mean for them to think she was comparing herself to Princess Diana.

On Thursday, November 11, the singer, 31, appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers wearing a David Koma little black dress.

Swift’s outfit was immediately compared to Princess Diana’s famous revenge gown from 1994, and fans took it as a message about getting even with a man, whether it was ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal or Scooter Braun, the owner of her old catalog.

“Oh my god, this isn’t — I just liked the dress,” Swift said at the All Too Well short film premiere on Friday, November 12.

“I liked the black dress.”

When she realized people were trying to make a connection there, the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer said she gasped.

In June 1994, Diana wore a daring black dress designed by Christina Stambolian to a dinner.

The Princess of Wales wore the dress the day after the heir to the throne publicly announced that he had cheated on her, despite the fact that she and Prince Charles had been separated for two years at the time.

Swift’s David Koma dress wasn’t an Easter egg, but she knows her fans can find clues in the most unexpected places.

“They’re the world’s best detectives.”

On the red carpet, Swift stated, “I love watching their theories.”

“Sometimes they come across things I didn’t even think of.”

… I’m planning it 95% of the time, but there are times when they say, ‘The math!’ and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, the math!'”

The Pennsylvania native discussed his decision to leave rewards for fans who paid attention on Thursday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“I wanted to do something that encouraged fans to read the lyrics because my lyrics are what I’m most proud of out of everything I do, every aspect of my job,” she explained.

“As a kid, I used to pore over CD booklets, reading the teeny, tiny print and obsessing over it.”

It began simply enough, with a few capitalized letters thrown in.
