An Echo Head Writer May Have Teased Daredevil and Kingpin’s Return to the MCU
Daredevil and Kingpin’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe may have been accidentally teased by the head writer for the Echo Marvel Studios series on Disney(plus).
Maya LopezEcho is played by Alaqua Cox on Hawkeye, and the streaming service confirmed reports that Echo will star in her own solo series in the future at its Disney(plus) Day presentation.
While there are few details about the upcoming Marvel show, writer Marion Dayre shared a social media post with the Echo series logo and images of Daredevil’s Charlie Cox and Wilson FiskKingpin’s Vincent D’Onofrio.
On her Instagram story, Dayre shared a screenshot from the @the_mcu_fandom Instagram account.
“I can’t wait for ECHO,” read the caption in the screenshot, which also tagged Alaqua Cox and Marion Dayre’s Instagram accounts.
Dayre would have received a notification that her username had been tagged, which is most likely how she found out about the post.
Now, it’s possible that the writer wanted to share a post from an ecstatic fan who was overjoyed at the Echo series’ confirmation, without thinking about the implications of Daredevil and Kingpin’s appearances.
The Daredevil characters were previously owned by Netflix, but after the streaming service canceled the show (along with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher), the rights reverted to Marvel Studios after a two-year hiatus.
On November 29, 2020, Marvel officially reclaimed the Daredevil rights.
Since then, fans have debated how Marvel Studios should reintroduce Daredevil and Kingpin, with the pros and cons of rebooting or making the Netflix series canon being discussed.
Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays the Kingpin, has expressed interest in seeing Hawkeye, though he has remained tight-lipped about a possible surprise appearance.
D’Onofrio responded to a Hawkeye teaser video with, “This is going to be fun.”
“I’m a huge fan of these Marvel shows.” In the comics, Kingpin is Echo’s father, so Wilson Fisk’s involvement in Hawkeye makes sense.
D’Onofrio chose Spider-Man as the Marvel hero he would like to see Kingpin fight in the MCU.
“It’s got to be Spider-Man,” D’Onofrio said on Jake’s Takes.
“I’m keeping my fingers crossed.”
We’ll see what they say if they ask me to do it.
In the world of Punisher, Daredevil, and Spider-Man, my character, Kingpin, exists.
“So that’s it.”
There have also been rumors that Daredevil, played by Charlie Cox, will make an appearance in Spider-Man:…
