Another movie cast member returns to Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and the opening date window has been revealed.
The new Guardians of the Galaxy ride at EPCOT will debut in Summer 2022, with another cast member from the original film.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open in the summer of 2022, according to Disney Parks chairman Josh D’Amaro.
Although Disney had previously stated that the ride would open next year, this is the first confirmation that it will open this summer.
Glenn Close will reprise her role as Nova Prime in the film, according to D’Amaro.
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista are among the cast members who will appear in the ride.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be the first Marvel ride to open at Walt Disney World Resort, and it will be housed in the brand new “Wonders of Xandar” pavilions, which will showcase some of the Nova Corps’ futuristic technology from the films.
The ride itself has a few features that set it apart from other Disney roller coasters.
Riders can follow all of the action as the misfit Guardians of the Galaxy attempt to save the galaxy on a “storycoaster” that rotates 360 degrees.
In addition, the ride features the first ever reverse launch on a Disney coaster and is one of the world’s longest enclosed coasters.
The ride is part of a major EPCOT renovation that began in 2019, just in time for the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary.
The area surrounding Spaceship Earth is being renovated (including the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride) and will be divided into three sections.
While World Showcase will largely remain unchanged, the new Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride will debut on October 1st in the France pavilion.
Next year will also see the debut of an attraction based on the hit film Moana.
EPCOT also recently added a new signature store, Creations, and a revamped version of Club Cool, as well as a new restaurant, Space 220.
More information about the new ride will be released closer to its summer debut.
