BIG Brother Best Shows Ever viewers were left feeling emotional as they watched the late Pete Burns perform on the show.
Describing the singer as a ‘true icon’ fans hit social media to pay tribute four years after his death.
As the popular reality show returns to screens to entertain the nation during lockdown, tonight saw E4 air an episode featuring the Dead or Alive frontman.
Watching him perform his hit song You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) to fellow housemates including Chantelle Houghton, Preston, Jodie Marsh, George Galloway and Dennis Rodman, caused emotions to run high among viewers.
One wrote: “Greatest housemate of all time. I still spend hours rewatching clips of his time in #BigBrother on YouTube. Absolute legend.🙌🏼”
Another added how it had stirred fond memories: “I had never seen anyone like Pete Burns before CBB. But I adored him and 11 year old me just wanted him to do my makeup. Iconic CBB. My favourite CBB series for sure.”
While one commented: “He was the best housemate ever miss Pete Burns RIP”.
And: “What a fabulous human and performer xx love Pete x”.
The episode in question saw Pete, who died in 2016 at the age of 57 following a sudden cardiac arrest, steal the show as housemates were all required to perform to win the weekly shopping challenge.
His performance followed Chantelle’s, who as the only non-celebrity on the show had to convince housemates she was the lead singer of a famous girl group.
“Pete Burns singing You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) in the #CBB house to everyone singing along and a standing ovation from everyone in the house was such a lovely moment. God rest his soul 😞 #BBUk,” tweeted one fan.
One fan said simply: “My god Pete, I miss you 💔#bbuk” and “Pete Burns was so f***ing iconic in CBB #BBUK”.
The show posted a tweet paying tribute to the star which said: “Pete Burns was a true icon, before during and after his time in the House. He became a much-loved member of the Big Brother family. We miss him. ❤”
