DOCTOR Who will make an unlikely alliance with an Ood assassin in the new Time Lord Victorius adventure.
Based on David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor, the new story is part of Doctor Who‘s ambitious Time Lord Victorious project, which will tell one epic Doctor Who story over a 12-week period later this year.
Doctor Who: The Minds of Magnox, will be an audio story written by Darren Jones.
Voice by Tenth Doctor Impersonator Jacob Dudman, the story will see The Doctor team up with a new character, Brian the Ood assassin.
The Oods are a humanoid species who communicate by telepathy and were enslaved by humans.
The synopsis reads: “In this original story, the Doctor travels with Brian, the Ood assassin, to the planet Magnox, one of the greatest receptacles of knowledge the universe will ever know, and home to the Minds of Magnox.
“The Doctor needs to ask a vital question, but the answer is Grade 1 Classified. In order to gain an audience with the Minds of Magnox he must take a dangerous test.
“Meanwhile, Brian gets involved with a criminal group and is asked to assassinate the Minds of Magnox. However, others also have the planet within their sights.”
Michael Stevens, the BBC Audio Editor for the Doctor Who Range, said in a release: “We’re delighted to tell this part of the epic Time Lord Victorious story, which is a unique and thrilling adventure for us all.”
First announced in April, the Time Lord Victorious project will see Big Finish, BBC Books, Titan Comics, BBC Audio, VR game producers Immersive Everywhere and more taking part to produce different chapters across different platforms.
A new Doctor Who – Short Trips release will also see Jon Culshaw narrating two short stories – Master Thief by Sophie Iles and Lesser Evils by Simon Guerrier – featuring two incarnations of the Master.
Producer Alfie Shaw promised fans would not have to experience every chapter of Time Lord Victorious to understand what’s going on if they were consumed individually.
He said: “It all ties into the bigger Time Lord Victorious patchwork, but you can just listen to the McGann Trilogy and enjoy it on its own.”
Each adventure in the Eighth Doctor trilogy is available to pre-order as a single-disc collector’s edition (£10.99) or download (£8.99) from the Big Finish website.
All three stories can also be pre-ordered on CD (£25) or download (£22).
The Doctor Who – Short Trips are also available to pre-order now and will be released in October 2020 on download (£4.99), or as part of a Time Lord Victorious bundle with the trilogy (£26).
