Deborah Chow and Ewan McGregor, stars of the Star Wars Obi Wan saga, tease a new Disney(plus) show.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Disney(plus) series, is one of the most eagerly anticipated Star Wars projects.

The series, which will take place after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, will premiere on the streaming service in 2022, and executive producer Deborah Chow and star Ewan McGregor have teased the series.

While no new clips from the series are shown in the sizzle reel for Disney(plus) Day, McGregor and Chow tease the series’ setup and the dangers that Obi-Wan faces.

“There’s a desire for this character to return,” McGregor said of his Obi-Wan Kenobi character.

“It’s been long enough for the fans, don’t you think?”

According to Chow, the location where the series finds things is “a dark time” in the story, where Jedi are not safe.

“Just being a Jedi,” Chow explained, “we’re coming into quite a dark time with him.”

“It’s not a safe situation.”

“There are Jedi on the prowl.”

“At least he has this one task left,” McGregor teased, “and that is to keep Luke safe.”

“That’s where our story begins; the interesting part will be where it goes from there,” Chow added.

Lucasfilm and Disney confirmed the Obi-Wan Kenobi series last year, much to the delight of fans.

The series is one of Lucasfilm’s most eagerly awaited Star Wars projects, with McGregor reprising his titular role of Obi-Wan and Hayden Christensen reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

Kumail Nanjiani, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Maya Erskine, Sung Kang, Benny Safdie, Simone Kessell, Bonnie Piesse, Moses Ingram, and Indira Varma will all appear in the series.

The story of Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

Obi-Wan went into hiding on Tatooine after the Empire rose, keeping a distant eye on Anakin Skywalker’s son, Luke Skywalker.

After Padme’s death and Anakin’s conversion to the Dark Side, newborn twins Luke and Leia were separated.

Luke was sent to live with his aunt and uncle under Obi-Wan’s watchful eye, while Senator Bail Organa adopted Leia.

“We completed our series, and it was a lot of fun.”

Working with [director-executive producer] Deborah Chow was a blast, and I don’t think it’ll be the last time…
