During Biden’s health procedure, Kamala Harris makes history as the first woman to hold presidential power.

On Friday, November 8, President Joe Biden had a routine colonoscopy.

Vice President Kamala Harris, 19, made history as the first woman to hold the presidency in the United States.

This year, Kamala Harris is breaking records in a variety of ways.

On November 1st,

While undergoing a routine colonoscopy, President Joe Biden temporarily transferred presidential powers to Vice President Harris.

During Biden’s procedure, Harris, who made history in January by becoming the first female, first Black, and first South Asian vice president, held the presidency for nearly an hour and a half.

Biden had written a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Senate president pro tempore (the person chosen to preside over the Senate in the absence of a vice president) Sen.

Before Harris’ procedure, Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy will officially transfer presidential powers to him.

In part, the letter stated, “Today I will undergo a routine medical procedure that will require sedation.”

“In light of the current circumstances, I have decided to temporarily transfer the powers and responsibilities of the office of President of the United States to the Vice President during the procedure and recovery period.”

Biden had resumed his duties and was no longer under sedation, according to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who confirmed it on Twitter around noon.

Psaki tweeted, “At approximately 11:35 a.m. this morning, @POTUS spoke with @VP and @WHCOS.”

“@POTUS was in good spirits and resumed his duties at that time.”

He’ll stay at Walter Reed for the remainder of his routine physical.”

Despite the fact that Harris is the first woman to hold presidential power, this isn’t the first time a president has temporarily delegated power.

While serving as Vice President under President Ronald Reagan, who underwent surgery in 1985, George HW Bush served as acting president for nearly eight hours.

Former President George W Bush’s son, former Vice President Dick Cheney, transferred power to him twice, in 2002 and 2007, while undergoing similar procedures.
