EASTENDERS’ Kat Slater is already back in Walford – and spent lockdown with Kush Kazemi.
The cleaner – who is played by actress Jessie Wallace in the BBC soap – made a sudden exit earlier this year after Jessie was suspended from the soap.
She was expected to be gone for a two month suspension, but the pandemic got in the way and she has been absent ever since.
Now actor Davood Ghadami has revealed that instead of Kat’s comeback being a major event – in fact it will have taken place off-screen.
Speaking on Secrets of the Square, he said: “The last thing we saw was him having a bit of difficulty with Jean and trying to sort it out but going about it the wrong way.
“But he’s forgiven by Jean and let back into 31, so he’s in 31 with all the kids, with Jean, with Mo, with Shirley… and we also have Kat back, so they actually spend lockdown together.
“Can you just imagine? All those characters?
“He’s had a really testing time – unlike Martin, who sounds like he’s enjoying the fact that they can’t leave their bedroom.
“For Kush, it’s very, very testing for him – and what happens at the other side of it is so exciting.”
Jessie was temporarily axed from the show in January after an incident on set.
A source told The Sun at the time it appeared that troubled Jessie seemed drunk on set.
Bosses held a crisis meeting and decided she would be axed from the show for two months to “sort herself out”.
The source added that Jessie was told she would be suspended for two months, saying: “Bosses were left with no choice but to discipline her.
“During the meeting she was told to sort herself out before returning to work.
Jessie has been one of the biggest stars in soapland for years, joining the drama for her first stint as Alfie Moon’s girlfriend between 2000 and 2005.
They had a five-year break from our screens before returning in the autumn of 2010 for another five years, when they left to appear in their own six-part BBC series, Redwater.
Jessie reprised the role of Kat – without Alfie this time – once more in 2018.
